In case having 312489 products isn’t enough, the latest trend is layering around 7 layers of toner on your skin (the Korean word for the essence/toners is ‘skin’, hence the name ‘7 skin method’).
Do what you want with your products, but we think that this is just marketing code for ‘use up more product so you have to buy more’.
Sure, extra layers of toners and essences will seriously give your skin a lot of hydration. If you spray a paper towel seven times with water, it’ll end up more wet than if you had sprayed it once.
But skin isn’t a paper towel. And, more often than not, seven layers of anything is just excessive. There’s only so much your skin can take in, so a lot of those layers are just going to sit on the surface. Anyone order a side of stickiness with that hydration? We didn’t think so.
Don’t get us wrong, there’s definitely something to layering products. We love thin layers of multiple products to treat different skin conditions. In fact, The Cosmetic Factory products are formulated to work in synergy with each other so multiple layers is one of the best ways to go. If that means 7 different products and your skin loves it, then we love it too.
We can’t help but raise an eyebrow when we see product ads for the 7 skin method that just say ‘apply until you have 7 layers’. Because, well… why doesn’t the product work well enough for just the one layer?
If emptying half the bottle on your skin makes you happy, you do you. We’re not here to rain on your parade.
But we are here to save you money. And we promise our range of serums do their job in one layer. Two if you’re feeling extra.
